In February 2021, Google announced<\/a> it would be phasing out the unlimited and free storage allocation previously available to schools and universities that use Google Drive. Instead, it will offer a base amount of storage for a fixed fee and a charge for additional storage. You can hide or show inbox categories and tabs in Gmail to customize how your inbox is organized. Here’s how to do it on both desktop and Android devices:<\/p>

On Desktop:<\/strong><\/p>

  1. Open Gmail<\/strong> on your web browser.<\/li>
  2. Look for the Settings gear icon<\/strong> in the top right corner and click on it.<\/li>
  3. Select “See all settings”<\/strong> from the dropdown menu.<\/li>
  4. Click on the “Inbox”<\/strong> tab.<\/li>
  5. Under the “Inbox type”<\/strong> section, ensure “Default”<\/strong> is selected. (Hiding categories requires the default inbox view.)<\/li>
  6. In the “Categories”<\/strong> section, you’ll see a list of existing categories like Primary, Social, and Promotions.<\/li>
  7. To hide a category:<\/strong> Uncheck the box next to the category you want to remove from your inbox view.<\/li>
  8. To show a hidden category:<\/strong> Check the box next to the category you want to display again.<\/li>
  9. Scroll down and click “Save Changes.”<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>

    On Android:<\/strong><\/p>

    1. Open the Gmail app<\/strong> on your Android phone or tablet.<\/li>
    2. Tap the menu icon<\/strong> (three horizontal lines) in the top left corner.<\/li>
    3. Select “Settings”<\/strong> from the menu options.<\/li>
    4. Choose the email account<\/strong> you want to modify (if you have multiple accounts).<\/li>
    5. Tap on “Inbox type”<\/strong>.<\/li>
    6. Select “Default Inbox”<\/strong>.<\/li>
    7. Tap on “Inbox categories”<\/strong>.<\/li>
    8. Here, you’ll see a list of categories similar to the desktop version.<\/li>
    9. To hide a category:<\/strong> Toggle the switch off<\/strong> for the category you want to hide.<\/li>
    10. To show a hidden category:<\/strong> Toggle the switch on<\/strong> for the category you want to display.<\/li><\/ol>
