You can hide or show inbox categories and tabs in Gmail to customize how your inbox is organized. Here’s how to do it on both desktop and Android devices:

On Desktop:

1. Open Gmail on your web browser.
2. Look for the Settings gear icon in the top right corner and click on it.
3. Select “See all settings” from the dropdown menu.
4. Click on the “Inbox” tab.
5. Under the “Inbox type” section, ensure “Default” is selected. (Hiding categories requires the default inbox view.)
6. In the “Categories” section, you’ll see a list of existing categories like Primary, Social, and Promotions.
7. To hide a category: Uncheck the box next to the category you want to remove from your inbox view.
8. To show a hidden category: Check the box next to the category you want to display again.
9. Scroll down and click “Save Changes.”

1. Open the Gmail app on your Android phone or tablet.
2. Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top left corner.

Important Notes:

• You cannot create new inbox categories in Gmail. You can only show or hide existing ones provided by Google.
• Hiding a category doesn’t delete the emails in that category. They are still accessible through the search function or by selecting the specific category label from the left-hand menu in the desktop version.
• The option to hide categories might not be available on all versions of the Gmail mobile app.
