Setting up new course in Aamusted Lms

This guide will help you set up a new course in the AAMUSTED Learning Management System (LMS).

Before You Start

  • It’s recommended to review a sample course as a student. Contact the IT Directorate enrollment assistance..

Logging In and Finding Your Course

  • Once your course is ready, you’ll receive a notification email.
  • Log in to the AAMUSTED LMS at https://lms.aamusted.edu.gh/. Use your Aamusted ID as default Password.
  • Your courses will be listed under “My Courses” in the navigation tray.

Configuring Course Settings

  • New courses come with default settings. To customize them, navigate to the “Course Management” menu (gear icon) and select “Edit course settings.”

Turning Customising On and Editing Your Course

  • Click the “Turn customising on” button (green pencil icon) to add and remove content, edit sections, and rearrange items.

Adding Resources

  • Resources include handouts, folders, web links, and more.
  • With editing on, navigate to the desired section and click the “+” icon to “Add an activity or resource.”
  • Choose the resource type and configure its settings. Save your changes.

Adding Activities

 

  • Activities are interactive tools for student engagement and assessment, such as forums, assignments, quizzes, etc.
  • Follow the same process as adding resources to include activities in your course.
  • Some activities require additional setup within the activity itself.

Setting Up Blocks

  • Blocks are additional functionalities displayed on your course page.
  • With editing on, use the “+” icon to “Add a block…” and choose the desired block.
  • You can rearrange and remove blocks using the editing options.

Making Your Course Available to Students

  • New courses are hidden from students by default.
  • Courses are automatically released to students at the designated times. Instructors can manually release courses if needed.

Course Building Tips

  • Duplicate similar resources and activities to save time. The “Edit” menu provides a “Duplicate” option.
  • Use the “Edit” or “Edit title” options to update existing resources and activities.
  • The editing mode allows you to rearrange items on your course page using the “Move” icon.
